COHORT LEARNING PROGRAMS

Kol Yisrael – Ethnic Diversity: This six-session series explores how ethnic minorities balance “becoming Israeli” with maintaining an identity rooted in their particular historical narrative. Exploring six of Israel’s ethnic groups, we will dive into questions of identity and inclusion to ignite conversations about how the values of diversity and uniformity animate the public sphere in Israel and in our own Hillel spaces. Each meeting is 90 minutes and dinner is provided. Students who complete the course earn a stipend.

Kol Yisrael – Peoplehood, Resilience, and Antisemitism: This six-session series explores resilience and antisemitism through the lens of Jewish peoplehood and Jewish experience. This course is designed to support you in claiming positive Jewish identity, even while navigating antisemitism, contemporary discourse around Israel, and the nuances of Jewish experiences in the 21st century. You will engage with Jewish diversity, grapple with narratives that harm and marginalize, and celebrate Jewish resilience and joy. Each meeting is 90 minutes and dinner is provided. Students who complete the course earn a stipend.

Life’s Big Questions: “Life’s Big Questions” is a great way to make new friends, connect with the Jewish community, engage in lively discussion, and explore your identity. The program provides a semester of discussion-based learning for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms, in a cohort of others hoping to do the same. Classes taught by a Rabbi/Jewish Educator. Sessions run for 90 minutes, including dinner, and completing the fellowship earns each student a stipend.

Life’s Big Questions 2.0: This eight-part fellowship tackles a new set of big questions! We will explore these questions using Jewish texts and contemporary voices. Dinner is served with each class and students who participate are eligible to earn a stipend at the end of the semester. Open to students who have already participated in LBQ. Provides a semester of discussion-based learning for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms in a cohort of others hoping to do the same. Each meeting is 90 minutes and dinner is provided. This fellowship is taught by a Rabbi/Jewish Educator.

Shabbat Hosting Lab: A ten-part fellowship that invites students to develop confidence and knowledge surrounding Shabbat rituals, to design and execute a Shabbat skill set, and to become hosts capable of facilitating a table experience in their own spaces informed and inspired by Jewish wisdom and tradition. Participants attend a Shabbat hosted by the facilitator and host two Shabbat meals on their own. Each meeting is 90 minutes and dinner is provided. This fellowship is taught by a Rabbi/Jewish Educator; students who complete the series earn a stipend.
