Texas Hillel is proud to offer several ways for students to learn more about Israel. Texans for Israel is Hillel’s umbrella organization for everything Israel-related. The group hosts cultural events, advocacy sessions, weekly discussions, and speakers. Students can get involved with AIPAC’s student chapter at UT and attend the annual AIPAC Policy Conference. Mishelanu is a group created by Israelis for Israelis. The group meets weekly and puts on cultural events like Mimouna. We also offer an Israel Learning Fellowship, where students can take a deep dive into hot-button issues and learn more about the diversity of the country and its people. Each week, students can come together to practice their Hebrew at Café Ivrit (and even get extra credit for their Hebrew courses!).
The annual Israel Block Party is the nation’s largest pro-Israel event on a college campus and offers participants a fun and educational taste of Israel – interactive educational tents, entertainment, Israeli food, and camels, of course.
Texas Hillel staff also lead two yearly Birthright Israel trips and coordinate internship programs with Birthright Israel Onward. For more information about our Israel programs and to get involved, please contact Or Shalev. For more information about Birthright trips and the Birthright Israel Onward Internship program, please contact Sade Storthz.
