SHABBAT

As always, Hillel staff and student leaders are looking forward to being with our community for Shabbat services, meals, and moments of connection. Shabbat programming at Hillel is offered every Friday during the academic year, with the exception of holiday breaks.

Shabbat Services:
Kabbalat Shabbat services are offered each Friday at the Hillel building. We offer one large “Hillel style” service that incorporates various customs from different traditions and students are empowered to lead services with the support of our rabbinic staff. Students do not need to RSVP or register for services in advance. Services begin at 6:15pm throughout the year. You can keep up to date about different Shabbat themes by following us on social media or checking our weekly newsletter. Email us to learn how to get involved with this!

Shabbat Dinner:
We also offer a certified kosher Shabbat meal each Friday at the Hillel building following services. Menus and meals are prepared by Gail’s Catering, a kosher catering company overseen by the Dallas Kosher Va’ad. Shabbat dinner is a festive community experience where students can come together to be with friends, meet new people, and enjoy all Shabbat has to offer. Students do not need to RSVP or register for dinner in advance and dinner is offered at no cost to current students; we kindly request that alumni and community members who are attending Shabbat make a donation here. Shabbat dinner starts at 7:30pm throughout the year. You do not need to attend services in order to attend dinner, and conversely, you can attend services without attending dinner. Each week, we strive to ensure that students new to Hillel have a spot at an open table, where they can meet other new students and some of our student leaders.
