Harvey Volunteering with Nechama
Join Texas Hillel as we volunteer with NECHAMA as they work towards relief and restoration with communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. NECHAMA is a voluntary organization that provides natural disaster preparedness, response, and recovery services nationwide. NECHAMA’s work is rooted in the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam, Hebrew for repairing the world through acts of goodness. Our dates are October 22nd and November 12th. We’ll meet at Hillel at 6am and carpool to Houston together. We will be back in Austin by 7pm.
We know that communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey will be recovering from the devastation for years, and we intend to work in partnership with organizations and communities that are bringing relief for the long haul. We also know that marginalized communities are the most vulnerable during and after natural disasters. We stand in solidarity with everybody impacted by the recent natural disasters, including communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities, LGBTQ communities, disabled communities, and homeless communities.
