This winter break, Texas Hillel will be hosting an alternative winter break trip to work with Give Kids the World (GKTW) in Kissimmee, Florida. GKTW is a non-profit organization that fulfills the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world. It allows them to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of the GKTW Village. Please visit the GKTW website for more information.
This alternative winter break will consist of volunteering, developing leadership skills, learning about repairing the world through a Jewish lens, and working as a team. The group will consist of 12 students including trip leaders, Kori Epstein and Ally Karpel. The trip will span from January 4-11 and will include five days working with GKTW and one day spent at an Orlando theme park.Trip cost is $450 + transportation to and from Kissimmee. Price will cover food, housing, transportation in Kissimmee, and the cost of a park ticket. Substantial financial aid is available and grants may lower individual and overall trip cost.
Every participant must attend pre- and post-trip training sessions at Texas Hillel. Training session times and dates will be determined once participants have been selected.
Applications must be submitted by Friday October 6th, but the priority deadline is Friday, September 29th. Once your application is received, you will be contacted to schedule your interview time. Please talk to Kori Epstein and Ally Karpel if you have any questions or concerns.
